Born on June 19, 1949, in Birmingham, Alabama, Len attended Ramsey High School and furthered his education at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He met Vicki during a summer job in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and they married, enjoying 54 years together. Len dedicated 25 years to his career as an Area Manager for Ecolab Inc before retiring in 2011.
Len is survived by his brother, John (Debra) Burroughs of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, JoAnn Jordan Burroughs Johnston and Len R. Burroughs Jr., MD, as well as his sister, Jennie Jordan Burroughs.
While there will be no formal memorial service, celebrations of life will be hosted at friends’ homes. Len’s ashes will be interred in a memorial garden that includes family members at their lakehouse in Alabama.
The North Florida Bicycle Club will host a “Len Burroughs Memorial Beaches Bike Ride” on November 8, 2025, starting at 9 AM along a 30-mile Atlantic Coastal route, honoring his love for biking and the community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Park Service and/or PBS/NPR to help preserve beauty and history.
