Mountain Brook Chamber meeting to focus on economic development in Alabama

Based in the scenic city of Mountain Brook, Alabama, the Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce has announced that its next quarterly meeting will focus on the state of economic development in Alabama. The meeting, which is to take place on Wednesday, April 24, will feature a presentation by Jim Searcy, the Executive Director of the Economic Development Association of Alabama (EDAA).

Expert Insight into Alabama’s Economic Development

Mr. Searcy, who assumed his role at the EDAA in July 2013, comes with a wealth of experience in economic development. He has previously served as the Executive Director of the Coastal Gateway Regional Economic Development Alliance and the Vice President for Business and Industry Retention with the Birmingham Business Alliance. In addition to his role at EDAA, Searcy also currently holds positions on the ATN Advisory Council, the Alabama Productivity Center Advisory Board, the Alabama Workforce Development Board, and several other economic development-related organizations.

Networking and Learning Opportunities

The meeting is set to commence at 11 a.m. with networking opportunities for attendees, followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. Catering to the interests of the business community, the topic of Alabama’s economic prosperity and growth strategies are intended to attract a wide spectrum of participants, encompassing local entrepreneurs, industry leaders, government officials, and academic stakeholders.

‘Economic Development is a Process Not an Event,’ Says Searcy

Driven by his duty towards the growth of Alabama’s economy, Searcy, in a candid assertion, clarified his approach to economic development. He said, “Economic development is a process not an event. Many people define the ribbon cutting, groundbreaking, or news clip as economic development, but the reality is that all of the work by a host of individuals and organizations that lead up to those events is what really makes it. The importance of the driving economic forces in our state continues to inspire me to speak to communities like Mountain Brook and how they can be a part of it all.”

Those interested in learning more or attending the meeting can visit the Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce’s website. The event promises to provide valuable insights into Alabama’s economic landscape and the strategy for its future growth, contributing towards the state’s ongoing drive for progress and prosperity.
