Fall Festival at McAlpine Recreation Center

Saturday’s Events Focus on Violence Prevention

The weekend turns its focus to important social issues with the Bessemer Stop the Violence Youth Ride for Humanity, taking place at Alex Bradford Park at 2 p.m. This event, organized by groups like 100 Black Men and Black Voters Matter, honors local community leader Maurice Muhammad and promotes peaceful resolutions to violence.

A Stop the Violence Walk & Summit will take place earlier, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Local leaders, including Sheriff Mark Pettway and District Attorney Danny Carr, will be in attendance, highlighting the community’s commitment to reducing violence.

Classic Fun Run and Concerts

For fitness enthusiasts, the Classic Fun Run at City Walk Bham sets the pace with a 2-mile walk/run at 8 a.m., promoting health and wellness for individuals of all abilities. Music lovers can enjoy the Q Dot, Jaxxxon & Friends Hip Hop Concert at The Nick Rocks on Saturday evening, ensuring there’s plenty of entertainment to be had.

Pathway to Success and Magic City Gospel Fest

As Sunday approaches, the Pathway to Success event at the Forum at BJCC from 1 to 5 p.m. will be a valuable resource for college preparation, navigating college life, and scholarship opportunities.

That evening, prepare for the Magic City Gospel Fest, starting at 6 p.m. at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church. This event features multiple choirs and renowned artists, ensuring a heartfelt experience filled with community spirit.
