In a bid to celebrate Black History, fascinating events have been organized for the people of Birmingham where they can participate and enjoy to the fullest. We have meticulously organized a list of places and activities for the convenience of the locals and tourists alike. The fun begins today and will continue over the weekend.

Catch the Fun Today

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens invites you for the Tiny Makers Series which starts today at 10:30 a.m. The Joe Lockett Show Live Podcast invites audiences to join Nephew Cliff and Ms. Denise at 4 p.m. Foodies can attend Spirit Night, an event benefiting Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society, at iCantina between 5-9 p.m. For the film enthusiasts, a film will be screened at Sidewalk Film at 7 p.m. Music lovers can enjoy the Live Band Karaoke hosted by Elle Jai at the Perfect Note.

Attractions on Friday

For the fitness enthusiasts, the Five Points West Library is organizing chair yoga and other chair exercises every Tuesday and Thursday under the name of Workout Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Music admirers can enjoy a gig by guitarist Adam Hawley and saxophonist Dalen Minnifield at Perfect Note, and R&B Only Live at Iron City. Kids are invited to the Children’s Church & Collision Church at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church for a session of fun and learning.

Continuation of the Fun on Saturday

Starting from 9 a.m., everyone is welcome to the Birdsong Farmers Market at Automatic Seafood to support local produce. For those who can’t get enough of parties, D’zire is arranging a special happy hour between 5-8 p.m. to set the mood for a fantastic Saturday night.

Sunday Spotlight

Prayers and worship will kick off proceedings at 9:30 a.m. at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Then, there’s the Cottontails Arts, Crafts & Gifts Show at the BJCC at noon which is not to be missed. For the foodies, Sunday Fun Day at DZIRE Bar and Lounge has organized Soul Food Sundays, for a delectable dining experience.

Extended Fun into Next Week

The fun continues as Sidewalk Film is screening a film for cinema lovers at 7 p.m. on Thursday. On Friday, music lovers can head to Perfect Note to witness Friday Night Live with Sharron Collins. It doesn’t end there as another joy-packed event will take the stage – the Third Annual Great Birmingham Bake Off at Cahaba Brewing at 2 p.m. on April 6.

Book Lovers and Art Lovers on Alert

Celebrating the Birmingham Jazz tradition, a book titled ‘Magic City: How the Birmingham Jazz Tradition Shaped the Sound of America’ by author Burgin Mathews is available for bibliophiles. For art enthusiasts, an art exhibition titled ‘Roots and Renaissance’ will be open till May 10 at C.A. Kirkendoll Learning Resource Center. This exhibition explores an African American journey through art and is an absolute must-visit.
