Man Arrested for Ambulance Theft in Hueytown Following Pursuit

Birmingham, Ala. – In an unusual event unfolding late on Monday, a man was taken into custody by the police for allegedly stealing an ambulance before leading the authorities into a vehicle chase. The dramatic pursuit which started in Birmingham ended in Hueytown, according to local authorities.

Ambulance Taken in the Middle of the Night

The police reported that the said ambulance was stolen from the 700 block of Princeton Avenue around 10 p.m. Officers from Birmingham Police spotted the stolen ambulance in transit and tried to stop the vehicle. However, defying the officers’ call, the driver kept going, forcing the police into a chase.

The Chase Extends to Hueytown

The suspect was reported to have sped on to I-59 South and took an exit onto Allison Bonnet Memorial Drive. He continued to elude the police as he drove into Hueytown, attempting to evade capture.

End of the Chase: The 1900 Block of Primary School Drive

The dramatic pursuit finally came to an end in Hueytown, in the 1900 Block of Primary School Drive. By then, additional police units had joined the chase and set up a perimeter, successfully bringing the vehicle to a stop and apprehending the suspect. The man was taken into custody without any incident or the use of force, as per the police.

No Patients On-board During Chase

Thankfully, it was confirmed that there were no patients inside the ambulance during the theft and subsequent chase. The incident also did not cause any injuries or lead to any casualties, as the chase concluded without any major mishaps.
