In Bessemer, the Alpha Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is organizing a back-to-school giveaway on July 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bessemer Recreation Center, where supplies will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Furthermore, Little Hands Serving Hearts will hold a backpack giveaway on July 26 from 11 a.m. to noon at the MLK Recreation Center pavilion.

Peppermint Patty Daycare will conduct a book bag giveaway on August 2 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1328 Forestdale Boulevard. On August 2, the Woodlawn Alumni Association will host the “Back 2 School Bash” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Woodlawn High School, providing free backpacks, school supplies for grades K-12, free haircuts, as well as testing and medical exams.
