Birmingham, AL – The Birmingham Police Department is actively investigating the recent disappearances of multiple teenagers in the area, raising concerns among residents and policymakers. The missing individuals are Patience Turner, 14; True Taylor, 15; and TyKeria Samuels, 17.

Details on the Missing Teens

Patience Turner: Last seen on April 14, 2025, at her home on the 3000 block of 23rd St. N. She is described as having a height of 5 feet 2 inches and weighing around 110 pounds. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing ash black pants, a white long sleeve shirt, and a blue True Religion short sleeve shirt. Witnesses reported seeing her leaving in a black sedan with a white top.

True Taylor: Last seen on April 11, 2025, on the 3000 block of Pike Road. Described as being between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 100 pounds, he was last seen in a black shirt, a gray or black sweater, and all-white Jordan sneakers. The police have suggested he may have voluntarily run away, as he packed his belongings before leaving home.

TyKeria Samuels: Last seen on March 21, 2025, near the 3200 block of 31st Place North. She was reportedly on her way to a friend’s house in the Norwood area, but never returned. The clothing she wore at the time remains unknown.

The increased number of teenage disappearances in Birmingham highlights a critical issue within the community. Local authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the missing teens to contact the Birmingham Police Department at (205) 328-9311.

Recent Context of Missing Children

In a related incident, a 15-year-old boy reported missing was found injured in woods in Hoover. The police received his missing report around 11 a.m. and initiated a search that included a large presence of officers, a drone unit, and K-9 support from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The search effort resulted in finding the teen just before 4 p.m., and he was transported to Children’s of Alabama with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators are currently probing the circumstances that led to his disappearance.

This spike in missing youths raises questions about the adequacy of current support systems for teenagers in Birmingham, particularly regarding mental health and social services. Local youth services experts emphasize the importance of addressing potential underlying issues that lead to runaways, including familial discord, mental health challenges, and peer influences.

Community and Policy Implications

The rise in incidents of missing teens presents an urgent need for enhanced community engagement and policy initiatives. Community leaders are called upon to foster partnerships between schools, families, and child services to develop preventive measures.

Enhancing awareness through educational programs about the risks faced by youth and resources available can potentially mitigate the occurrence of such incidents in the future. Community forums where residents can voice concerns and collaborate with law enforcement may also aid in creating a safer environment for local youth.

The Birmingham Police Department continues to encourage residents to stay vigilant and report any information that could assist in finding these missing teenagers. With a community-focused approach, local authorities hope to address not only the immediate concerns of these disappearances but also the broader challenges that may have contributed to this troubling trend.
