Celebrate the Season: Join the Christmas Brunch in Birmingham, AL on December 14, 2024!

Celebrate the Season with a Christmas Brunch in Birmingham, AL!

Mark your calendars, folks! On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Arlington Historic House and Gardens in our very own Birmingham, Alabama, is inviting you to a festive Christmas brunch you won’t want to miss! The event will run from 10 a.m. to Noon, and it’s not just about delightful food; it’s all about celebrating Black history and unveiling exciting initiatives planned for 2025!

Reserve Your Spot: An Inclusive Experience Awaits!

Tickets for this delightful brunch are only $20, but be quick! Reservations must be made in advance to ensure your seat at this special event. Head over to Arlington House, located at 331 Cotton Ave. SW, or simply call them at 205-780-5656. Their office hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you’re tech-savvy, you can also RSVP through their Google doc!

The Harmony and Heritage Series

The Christmas brunch is part of the newly launched Harmony and Heritage Lunch series, which kicked off in September 2024. This series was created to provide our community with a space for healing, wellness, and to highlight the rich tapestry of Black history—all while enjoying a scrumptious meal!

Past lunches have tantalized taste buds with dishes like grilled salmon on mashed potatoes, lemon rosemary chicken, and even homemade chicken pot pie. The upcoming December 14 brunch promises a feast of flavors, featuring:

  • Scrambled eggs
  • Plain grits and cheese grits
  • Shrimp and grits
  • French toast with blueberry syrup
  • Mint-infused orange juice
  • Turkey sausage and turkey bacon
  • Roasted root vegetables
  • Spanish rice
  • Coffee cake
  • And of course, tea and coffee!

A Collaboration for Community

This wonderful effort is made possible by a partnership between Arlington House and Birmingham native Ashley Mann, an attorney at the Sandpiper Advisory Group. Mann believes these brunches are an excellent opportunity for individuals to come together, share stories, and nurture a deeper connection to our history.

In fact, Arlington House previously hosted monthly lunches on the first Thursday, but with support from Mann and Toby Richards, the director of Arlington House, the series has rebranded to incorporate even more cultural significance.

Overwhelming Enthusiasm

And guess what? Richards mentioned that the community response has been nothing short of overwhelming. Each lunch has been a hit, with tickets flying off the shelves, proving that our Birmingham residents are hungry—not just for good food, but also for connection and cultural richness!

Looking Ahead

The December brunch will be the last event for 2024, but don’t worry; the lunch series will return on Thursday, January 9, 2025, with the same mindfully curated experience. Each Thursday lunch runs from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., starting at 11:30 a.m. for early birds. Tickets for these Thursday events are just $15—a steal for an epicurean adventure!

In addition to the meals, plans for a new community garden, juicing programs, and meal prep initiatives will be rolling out soon. Mann emphasizes that these programs are designed to encourage community bonding, deepen our understanding of heritage, and celebrate the healing power that shared experiences bring.

So, if you’re looking to fill your belly and your soul this holiday season, don’t wait—join in at the Arlington Christmas brunch and be part of something larger than just a meal. Harmony and Heritage is here to remind us that the story of our community continues, one plate at a time!
