Coat Drive Kicks Off in Birmingham: Spread the Warmth this Winter!

As the chilly winds of winter begin to blow, Birmingham is stepping up to make sure that no child is left shivering in the cold! The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has launched an exciting Coat Drive that invites you to help keep our community’s youth warm this holiday season.

What’s Happening?

Starting now and running until December 20, 2024, BPD’s Community Safety Partnership Division is calling on all residents to donate new coats for kids. They are looking for coats for boys and girls, ranging in sizes from 5T to XXL, catering to children up to the age of 17. Each coat collected will go directly to a child in need, so your kindness can really make a difference!

How Can You Help?

Participating in this heartfelt initiative is simple! Just head over to one of the five Birmingham Police locations spread across the city. You’ll find drop-off points where you can donate coats, making it easy and convenient to contribute. The main BPD location is at 1710 1st Ave. N., Birmingham, AL 35203 — so why not make a trip there and spread some warmth?

Not sure if you have a new coat to donate? Well, don’t fret! You can encourage your friends and family to join in the fun of coat collecting. A quick chat or a post on social media can rally others together to help the cause!

Why a Coat Drive?

Winter can be tough, especially for those who might not have the means to keep themselves warm. Each coat donated not only protects against the cold but also brings a smile to a child’s face. The need for warmth during the colder months is crucial, and this drive offers a way for all of us to chip in and make a positive impact in our community.

Your generosity will not only help keep children warm but will also strengthen our community bonds. There’s no better way to spread holiday cheer than by helping others, and this coat drive is a perfect opportunity to do just that.

Mark your calendars, gather those coats and let’s show Birmingham’s spirit of giving! Together, let’s make sure that everyone in our community can bundle up and stay cozy this winter!
