Helena Public Library Launches Summer Reading Program

Everyone of all ages invited to join the reading adventure

HELENA – The Helena Public Library is all set to kick off its summer reading program with the exciting theme – ‘Adventure Begins at Your Library’. Aiming to entertain avid readers of all age groups, this program encourages every participant to embark on different adventures with every book they read. The registration for this fun and educational program commences on Monday, June 3.

Tracking the Journey through Summers with Books

When participants pick up their registration bags, they are handed a book log which they can use to keep a record of all the books they read during the summer. This book log not only serves as a memory of the journey through different literary landscapes but also as proof of the number of books read over time. According to Dan Dearing, the enthusiastic Library Director, participants will be receiving fabulous prizes as they submit their duly filled book logs. The idea behind this initiative is to stimulate continuous reading, especially among students, as school remains closed for the summer break.

More than Merely Reading

In addition to the summer reading program, the Helena Public Library has curated a series of free activities throughout the entire summer season. From storytelling and crafting sessions to entertaining board games and engaging teen programs, there’s something for everyone. The library is also hosting several special guests to ensure a delightful and memorable summer.

Some of the special features of this summer program include enlightening visits by the city’s police and fire departments and exciting programs by McWane Science Center. Dearing believes that these programs will not only help draw people into the library, but also promote the concept of community-wide participation in literary events.

A Vibrant Part of Helena Community

Aiming to highlight the library’s role as an integral part of the local Helena community, Dearing expresses, “We want everyone to find new and exciting books to read and know that the adventure begins at your library.”

For more information about the Helena Public Library’s summer program, interested participants can visit the official city website at Cityofhelena.org/public-library/summer-reading. To get in touch with the library, they can call on 205-664-8308.

In conclusion, the Helena Public Library’s summer reading program presents a chance to mentally travel to different places, meet myriad characters, and experience numerous adventures – all through the medium of books. It not only promotes the habit of reading but also binds the community together through a shared love for literature.
