Inside “Tech Row,” an Exciting New Startup Hub in Birmingham

Birmingham’s thriving technology scene has received a major boost with the unveiling of “Tech Row,” a dynamic new workspace tailored for startups and investors. Tech Row is a collaboration between national venture capital firm gener8tor and Birmingham-based nonprofit/early-stage venture firm Bronze Valley.
A New Startup Hub in Birmingham
Both gener8tor and Bronze Valley are no strangers to joining forces on innovative projects. Back in 2023, these two companies came together to launch the Bronze Valley Investment Accelerator—an initiative focused on supporting and investing in underrepresented startup founders.
In the words of Emily Wykle, Regional Vice President of gener8tor, “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Bronze Valley to amplify the impact that startups can have on the state of Alabama through this new space. At gener8tor, we recognize the importance of cross-collaboration. Tech Row will provide a great space for accelerator program participants and alumni to work alongside one another.”
Tech Row: More Than Just a Workspace
Located in the building previously occupied by Landing, Tech Row aims to offer far more than just a regular office space. It has been designed to provide high-quality, tailored programming and services for gener8tor’s eight Alabama-based accelerator programs. Additionally, it will offer support for founders relocating from other markets for short or long periods.
Sean Haskell, Founder of Etch, a company that was part of gener8tor’s gBETA Huntsville program through RCP, said, “This cutting-edge resource, new to Birmingham, has been a wonderful asset for us to connect with other founders and stay plugged into the ecosystem, and we’re confident it will be a tremendous advantage for gener8tor startups and the broader community.”
Investor Engagement and Alabama Lightning Rounds
Moreover, Tech Row will play host to two Alabama Lightning Rounds each year. These events, resembling ‘speed dating’ for investors and startups, aim to encourage more active investor engagement within Alabama’s burgeoning startup scene.
The new Tech Row hub is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, at 9 20th Street North, on the corner of Morris Avenue. This prime location places Tech Row’s occupants within a few walkable blocks of an array of restaurants, establishments, and entertainment options, making the hub even more appealing to startups and investors alike.
With this new addition to the tech landscape, Birmingham moves one step closer to becoming a significant name on the map of prominent technology and startup hubs in the US.
