UAB Medicine Primary Care Transitions to New Location in Lee Branch, Unveils Expanded Services
Birmingham, Alabama – The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) proudly celebrated another milestone in healthcare delivery today as it cut the ribbon to officiate the relocation and service expansion of its primary care clinic at the new Lee Branch location. This move symbolizes a significant step forward in UAB Medicine’s continuous strides to provide quality, comprehensive healthcare to the Birmingham metropolitan area.
A More Comprehensive Range of Services
The staff at the newly christened UAB Medicine Lee Branch Primary and Specialty Care are poised to continue their tireless dedication to patient care, handling adult patients’ non-emergency medical needs spanning a wide spectrum. With the move, the clinic is not just changing its physical location but also enhancing its service offering to meet the diverse health needs of the local community.
The clinic, which has already carved a niche for its primary care services, now introduces specialty care in areas like endocrinology, nephrology, and pain management. In the foreseeable future, it further plans to broaden its offerings to include services related to rheumatology, podiatry, and behavioral health.
Advanced Infrastructure to Support Service Expansion
The clinic’s new location is equipped with state-of-the art infrastructure bolstering its service expansion endeavors. It boasts 22 examination rooms and is well-equipped to conduct mammograms, digital X-rays, and lab work thereby ensuring a comprehensive circle of care under one roof.
Continued Legacy and Service Expansion
In celebrating this move, Dr. Irfan Asif, M.D., Primary Care Service Line Director, and Chair of the UAB Department of Family and Community Medicine, expressed his excitement at this milestone. He commented, “We have served patients in the Inverness Hoover area for over 28 years. Now we are thrilled to expand into a larger clinic space, enabling more access to primary care while providing additional services.
The clinic, which has reportedly almost doubled its primary care providers, will now be providing specialty services every day to patients. Its expanded ambulatory lab allows for conducting lab work for UAB Medicine patients across the community.
Convenient Location
The new site for the clinic is conveniently located in the Lee Branch Shopping Center just off U.S. Highway 280, making it easily accessible to patients. This clinic forms part of a network of convenient satellite clinics serving Central Alabama. The full address is 220 Doug Baker Blvd., Suite #100, Birmingham, AL, 35242, and appointments can be made by calling 205-981-3040.
A Forward-Looking Perspective
As UAB Medicine continues to progress in its mission to provide top-notch primary and specialty care, the relocation and service expansion of the Lee Branch clinic offer patients more accessible and comprehensive healthcare.
