BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A national real estate company has found its way into Birmingham, Ala., by joining up with the largest brokerage in the state instead of building from scratch. Howard Hanna Real Estate Services announced Wednesday that it is partnering with ARC Realty and Capstone Realty.
The deal brings 875 agents working out of 12 offices, spread across Birmingham, Huntsville and Montgomery, into the Howard Hanna network, which now reaches 19 states. Together the two Alabama brands closed about 6,000 sales worth $2.8 billion in 2025.
Howard Hanna is a family-owned company that started in Pittsburgh in 1957 and describes itself as the biggest independently owned brokerage in the country. Its chief executive, Howard Hoby Hanna IV, said the Alabama firms fit the kind of locally rooted, well-run business his company looks for as it grows.
Local leadership is staying put. ARC and Capstone will keep their current leaders and teams, while their agents pick up access to Howard Hanna technology, marketing tools and its national referral network, along with mortgage, title and insurance services. The company also plans to bring its Money Back Guarantee program to the state.
ARC Realty has worked across Central Alabama since 2012 under the slogan A Relationship Company. Capstone grew up in North Alabama. The two merged in 2022 and claim the top spot in the Greater Alabama MLS.
ARC chief executive Beau Bevis said keeping the firm’s local leaders and relationships in place was a must, and that the move gives his agents more tools and national reach. Capstone CEO Darrin Hasley said the agreement will put more resources directly in the hands of agents.
Howard Hanna pointed to Alabama’s growth as a reason for the move, citing positive domestic migration in 2025 and an all-time high of $14.6 billion in industrial investment, from new and expanding companies, that year.
